Disney World Tips & Tricks
Last year we went to Disney World for my Son's(2yrs) & My First Time. We went with my in laws and my sister & brother in law. It was the most beautiful & greatest vacation ever. We don't see them often so it was so nice to spend some time with them, especially in such a fun & magical place. Even though I enjoyed myself, I realized that I wish we would have done more planning. I am all about going with the flow but I also know that in some situations you need to plan. Well in my opinion Disney is one of those places.
- Plan Ahead
- Plan about 9 months ahead the exact days & where you will be staying(If going during a busy time plan ahead 1 year before)
- Plan a schedule of your days there.
- what park you will visit what days and what times
- If you are going with more family make sure that you take everyone in consideration. (email them a plan or talk with them to come up with one that works for everyone)(I had a semi-plan but my mistake was not sharing it with everyone, so when we got there we knew what parks we were going to but not what times or for how long)
- If staying outside of property
- look it up. where your place is & the park & restaurants near or in between the 2 places. (We stayed in villas outside Disney, Magical Memories Villas, ours was great. It was clean & beautiful and big enough)
- Make reservations
- The first night we got there we spent about 30min or more trying to figure where we were eating. Once we decided the place was 2hr wait time!
- Figure out budget & make reservations accordingly(even places outside the park can get busy)
- In Park Eating
- Decide whether you & the family want to do character dining( it is a great experience especially if you have kiddos)
- Plan it a time where its not typically as busy
- you get the characters more to yourself
- Make reservations
- Decide if its worth it to you! It is EXPENSIVE to do character dinning or eating at one of their restaurants
- We had lunch in Animal Kingdom Tusker House
- It is a buffet style(recommend and makes it worth it if you are a good eater)
- Price was about 50 each person plus tips included in bill
- We also had lunch at a fast service place
- It was about 30 dollars for just some fish & chips & a drink
- Look into a locker you can rent
- For next time, I want to bring my own food in the park
- Perhaps get a locker so you aren't carrying all that food around the park.
- It will definitely save you so much money.
- Rides
- Set your 3 fast passes
- Ride a ride between your fast passes.
- Know what your kiddos can ride or can't before hand
- Know everyones MUST DO rides before so you know what fast passes to do during the day.
- Plan your fast passes around same area
- We spent so much time walking back & forth
- Try to know the park a little before you head in
- Budget
- Set a budget for overall trip, as well as for each day!
- Get Gift cards
- Target has some & if you buy them with red card you get 5%off
- Buy them with rewards cards so you get cash back
- Don'f forget to add snacks & drinks to the budget because those can add up FAST
- If you are buying souvenirs make list of who & what you want
- So you aren't just going crazy in the store
- Remember you must carry your stuff unless staying in property they can send to your room
- Memory Maker
- You can purchase this and let photographers through out the park take your pictures & you can download them all
- Toddlers
- Rent a Stroller
- If you aren't bringing one with you, rent one outside of park rather than in the park
- Much more comfortable & sometimes the come with stuff(rain cover & smaller cooler)
- Know that they might get over stimulated or might be scared of characters(take their lead and don't get frustrated, it will eventually get better)
- Don't be scared to go back to the room & give them & you a break!
- Pack their favorite snacks. If not their favorite the maybe don't pack because you'll just carry them & they won't eat them
- Don't over pack.
- I ended up hurting my shoulder because how much & how long i carried a backpack with things my son didnt even need or cared for
- HAVE FUN
- Don't let little things get you mad or stressed.
- There is a lot of people! SO much doesn't depend on you, so relax & just enjoy your family
Not everything will go according to plan but thats okay! Disney is a MAGICAL place & you are with people you love so just enjoy it all no matter the hiccups. Hope you have a great time if you are planning a vacation. What are your tips!? let me know. Its always nice to hear what helps others plus you can never have TOO may TIPS.
Much Love
JessC
